Format for Digital Images
Although with the
current Digital Projector the size the screen resolution is set to 800 pixels
wide by 600 pixel high, the canvas size for images supplied on removable media
(CD / DVD / USB stick etc) needs to be a set size of 1024 pixels across by 768
pixels high.
Whatever your image
size is, the overall canvas size needs to be:
1024 pixels across by 768 pixels high.
The colour space needs to be Adobe RGB 1998 colour space
If your image is over this, reduce it in size.
If it isn't in proportion to 1024 high x 768 wide, then make sure
the rest of the canvas area is black.
If your image is in portrait proportions ie taller than it is wide then the
image can only have a maximum height of 768 pixels, not 1024!
The image file extension needs to be .jpg (or .jpeg) if it is a tiff (.tif)
then save it again as a jpeg.
Remember jpeg files are compressed when stored and when saved after
manipulation it loses quality. Opening and viewing jpegs and closing the
files again does no damage at all no matter how many times.
Tip 1. Do all your cloning, retouching sizing, adding black borders etc
in tiff format and save to jpg as the last stage.
Tip 2. With only 1024 x 768 pixels to play with for maximum detail don't
just position images in the middle of the black background, make them as big
as possible.
Naming conventions (as per KCPA Digital competitions) see http://www.kcpa.co.uk/comps.htm
Images need to be something like: THE SKY AT NIGHT by Patrick Moore DPAGB ARPS
or THE SKY AT NIGHT by KP for our local competition.
If you do have any preferences or should there be a cutoff on numbers then
enclose a completed form with your list of images in preferential order.
