If members have any suggestions for tips or would like to submit your own tips, please email them to the webmaster.   Steve Costin, Webmaster The rules for digital images stipulate that the canvas size should be 1024 pixels (wide) x 768 pixels (high) and 72dpi. The picture will have black borders to compensate for the image shape and size.   For Photoshop including Elements follow this procedure: 1. Save or convert image to JPEG. 2. Open and display JPEG image. 3. From the menus choose Image > Image Size. 4. Enter 72 in the DPI Box 5. Enter 1024 pixels in the Width Box 6. Check that 768 pixels or less appears in the height box and click OK. 7. If height is greater than 768 then correct value to 768 and the width will be reduced automatically. 8. From menus choose Image > Canvas Size. 9. Change background colour to Black and scale from cm to pixels. Ensure check boxes are ticked, especially Resample Image. 10. Enter 1024 pixels for Width and 768 pixels for Height and click OK. 11. If the image is not exactly 1024 x 768 then black bars will be seen to fill the empty portion of the canvas. 12. Save image using a name in the following format: NAME OF TITLE by YOUR 2 LETTER CODE and NUMBER where number is your order preference. For example SUNSET AT MARGATE by XX 1, where XX is your letter code identity. The most important part is that the title is in capitals followed by the word by in lower case, otherwise the projection software will not run correctly. For club competitions you must use your code and not your name as this is displayed to the judge during the final part of judging. Incorrect entries will not be allowed. Images should be given to the appropriate competition secretary by no later than the date laid out in the schedule.
